This poster was in the window of the gas station convenience store. It immediately brought some thoughts to mind, but other people may think differently. Where does your mind go when you look at it?
Some people might think, “What the hell is blood cancer? I thought that was leukemia. Probably some kind of trademark dispute, but it’s one more damn thing to worry about.”
Successful suburban moms may be thinking, “I wonder if one hand would fit around his neck?”
Hey don’t blame me, they are the ones that see Lindsey Clancy as a kindred spirit and that Dum-Dumtm lollipop suggests a pencil neck.
Outdoorsy people would wonder at the size of those waffle-stompers. We don’t know how big the kid’s feet are, but those boots look to be half as long as his leg.
College guys may be wondering why I mention waffle-stompers when I’m not discussing the practice of shitting in the shower, and stomping the debris down the drain.
In a more enlightened era, waffle-stompers referred to hiking boots.

Next time you talk to a college guy, mention waffle-stompers and see where the conversation ends up.
I can’t be the only person who sees that poster, and thinks of the Yangs and Comms of Star Trek.

This year is the 60th anniversary of Star Trek. Everybody’s talking about it. Tell me that kid doesn’t fit right in.

In story, it makes sense. Times are tough, so the sparse resources go toward fully clothing the child. Dad has to dress like the rejected sixth character of the Village People and mom dresses like a woodland whore.
In Ohio and other red states, the child is a Yang. There is probably a version for the blue states where the kid is a Comm.
If that isn’t obvious enough for the Millennial and Gen Z screen zombies, there is subtle word play at the top of the poster.

Shatter approximates Shatner, Darkness equals Darkness.
Pierce the marketing fog or skip through life as a thrall. It’s all the same to me.
