What is that supposed to be?

The Obama Presidential Library is not a handsome building, but it reminds me of something.  No, not a prick, marital aid, or anything like that.  I can’t quite place it.

It reminds me of some type of electrical connector.  Almost an RJ-45 Ethernet plug, but that’s not it.

I asked AI for help.

Microsoft’s Bing, scolded me for wrong think.

Insulting or disparaging comparisons about the Obama Presidential Library do not promote constructive or respectful discussion and can deepen social divisions and misunderstandings.

That’s just the introduction to a 5 paragraph essay on why I should shut up and be nice.  I’m not trying to be respectful, I want to figure out what the shape reminds me of.

The Google AI gave opinions, but not what it resembled.

A “Tower of Babel”
A “monstrosity”
An “ugly waste of taxpayer” money
A “disaster”

The X Grok tried to be helpful.

Upside-down garbage can or trash bin
Prison or bunker
The home of a Transformer villain like Megatron
WWII German flak tower
Alien spacecraft or ancient tomb

I like bunkers, homes of robot villains, flak towers and alien spacecraft.  I could like this building if it were a museum of oppression educating visitors about the practices of the Stasi or KGB.

The Checkpoint Charlie Museum in Berlin was very interesting and showed the extent to which East Germans would go to escape the tyranny of communism.

The Spy Museum in Washington DC is more light-hearted and fun.

The only presidential library I’ve visited, is Ronald Reagan‘s.  It’s full of optimism, history and an Air Force One.

It’s hard to imagine that anyone has a better presidential library.  Perhaps I should endeavor to visit all of the presidential libraries to find out for myself.

Wikipedia says that there is a Presidential Library System that administers 16 libraries.  All those old guys are going to have a hard time beating an Air Force One exhibit.

Looking at the list, I have been to Monticello, but that was before Jefferson’s library was established.

William McKinley’s library is just in Canton, so that would be an easy trip if I avoid the Football Hall of Fame.

Theodore Roosevelt has one in North Dakota that is supposed to open next year.  I’d like to also visit the family home in Oyster Bay, New York.

Gerald Ford’s museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan looks splendid, which is interesting since he was never elected and was only president for a minute.

Bill Clinton’s museum in Little Rock, Arkansas looks like one of those modern, architectural homes that look impressive, but wouldn’t be comfortable to live in.

I’m interested, and may put this on my list of travel goals.

Note to self:  Make a list of travel goals.
