Meet the new guy.
Tomorrow, I will go down to the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield to pick him up. I hope this is a good idea.
Here’s what we know about the dog formerly known as Basil.
Meet Basil!! He came in as a stray on 1/13/26. We think he is about 5 years old. He is such a happy guy – always smiling! He is a typical beagle who follows his nose wherever it leads him. He really really likes hot dogs! Once the hot dogs were gone, he went back to exploring his surroundings. He is available for adoption so hurry in to meet him!
Today, my brother and I took Sparky down to meet the new guy. It was awkward.
Not awkward like they dated the same girl in high school, but awkward like an unusual preoccupation with Sparky’s dick.
Now that we are home, I read the description to Sparky. I learned something new.
“That’s it right there. ‘He really really likes hot dogs!’ That’s like saying someone is a ‘Friend of Dorothy’. He batting for the other team.”
Sparky, you like hot dogs. You don’t go around sniffing some other guy’s pecker.
“Yeah, I like hot dogs, but I don’t go around bragging about it. I like dead birds, floor meat and raccoon tails too.”
He does seem like a nice dog. It’s hard to tell in the pound, but he wasn’t barking his ass off, sulking or threatening to kill anyone.
I need to come up with a name. He and I can talk about it in the car, but right now, I’m leaning toward ‘Rocco’.
congrats! Rocco’s a good name, so is Rocky, Bolt or Flash…..just to go along with Sparky’s name…. he looks very cute, does have a great smile
I hope they get along well – not too well though
My buddy’s dad is named Rocco, so that will get awkward eventually.
I like Rocky. Because of his bit of brown, thought Rusty, then Dusty.
Then I thought it should end in an ‘o’, rather than a ‘y’, so both dogs know which one is ignoring me.
Davy and I had 7 or 8 possible names. When I’ve got him here for a few days, I’ll know for sure.
He looks like a Rusty. Seems fitting. Nice name.
