How can the sun be rising to the north of east rather than a little south of east?

I live half-way up the Northern Hemisphere, so it seems like the sun should always be a little bit south.  That’s why moss grows on the north side of trees.  Because of my road, I know east is on the right side of the photo.  Something ain’t right.

This is where Ice Cube should break into my feed.

I hope he does.  Ice Cube reminds me of my nephew, and I haven’t talked to him for a few years, so that would be nice.

Maybe I just need to change my location on Google Maps, so the simulation resets.

I asked Google AI to explain it to me, and it kept using words like ‘azimuth’ and ‘declination’.  Nothing was sinking in.  I wondered if this is how Sparky feels when we practice the “Go to bed!” command.  He knows a treat is on the line and he is supposed to go somewhere, so Sparky may end up in his crate, at the patio door or under the dining room table.

We’ve practiced this for 3 years, so maybe it’s time to let it go.

Sparky and the sun are going to be where ever they want, so don’t worry about it.
