I taught Physics for 25 years at two nicer school districts and was an instructor for 15 years at an academic summer camp for genius children. There is objective evidence that I was an excellent teacher. Also, I can discuss education forever, so an effort will be made to keep this post limited to the federal Department of Education.

The budget for the federal Department of Education (DoED), is 268 billion dollars. There are 54 million students in k-12 schools. The DoED spends $5000 per student, but doesn’t have any students.

Sparky is a romantic. Last summer, we went up in the tree fort. Sparky got all giggly when he found this heart carved in the tree.

I shouldn’t have been surprised to run into Sparky’s drama on Valentine’s Day.

When Sparky decided to hike up the icy hill, my new crampons allowed me to follow. To show the treacherous conditions, I videoed Sparky. As expected, he had trouble with the ice, but what happened on the hill surprised both of us.

The backyard ice field is a death trap. Going down on ice seems to happen extra fast. My first fall shook me up. After that, I was super cautious. I have fallen a few more times, but since I went down from a sporting stance, there have been no injuries yet. I can’t live like this.

Morning dog and I were very comfortable, when the sun had risen high enough to interfere with my bliss. Morning dog had already been out to pee and come in to investigate the snack pit, so neither of us wanted to get off the couch.

I could endure the morning sun shining in my eyes, when it occurred to me that with my phone, I could command my robot window shades.

Sparky and I aren’t pleased with the weather situation. Everything that looks like snow, is slick ice. Anything that looks greenish, is grass sticking out of slick ice. It’s worse than walking on a glacier.
