My biggest fear is that Google is going to serve me an ad showing that Wayfair sells a headboard just like this for a hundred bucks.

The lamps are not built in as I’d planned.  There are two power outlets installed in the top surface.  These are Philips HUE lights tied into the home automation system.

On each side, there is a little open cubby hole for items used frequently like a phone charger, and a closed cubby hole for items used less often like reading glasses or flashlight.

The larger panels on each side are fixed.  The alcoves on each side are for the CPAP machine, weather radio and alarm clock.

The headboard has a utility compartment. 

An outlet is needed for the cellphone charger, tablet power supply, two lamps, CPAP, alarm clock and weather radio.  That’s the minimum as other items will eventually come up.  Nothing uses much power, but everything needs an outlet.

The outlet is on the wall, under the headboard.  It’s necessary to crawl through a tunnel from the foot of the bed, to the headboard.  Not convenient.

The utility compartment is about the size of a breadbox.  Inside, there is a fancy power strip like this.

That keeps all the wires and power bricks out of the way.  It all sits under that tiny hatch shown in the photo.

Moving my bed started this series of projects.  With all this new storage, maybe I can get my shit together.
