True Crime is not my genre.  Even though the Lindsay Clancy trial featured an AWFL who strangled her three young children, it could be mostly ignored until the verdict was in.  Then it got interesting.

The jury could not come to a consensus.  Eleven jurors thought she was not guilty by reason of insanity, while one juror didn’t agree.  That’s fine, whatever.  Everyone believed that OJ Simpson killed his ex-wife, but was found to be not guilty because he’s Black, and they needed a win.  We got over it.

The progressive TikTok consensus was that Lindsay Clancy should not be blamed for murdering her three children.  Several members of the Clancy jury did media interviews to let everyone know it wasn’t their fault and that the holdout juror was the real issue.

The NBC affiliate out of Boston had the holdout juror’s name, and began releasing unflattering aspects of his personal life.  It was a matter of time before his identity become public.

I don’t recall the media ever going after a member of the jury in a contentious criminal case.  There are reasons for this. 

  • If jurors cannot confidentially deliberate, they may not be completely honest and forthright.
  • Many people already dread jury duty due to the inconvenience.  If jury duty is an actual risk, people might go to greater lengths to avoid participating.
  • A juror represents private citizens.  Jurors didn’t pursue a spot on the panel in pursuit of power or influence.  Nobody asked to be there.

Lindsay Clancy got $1.2 million on GoFundMe for murdering her three kids and destroying her husband’s life.  I don’t understand it, she’s not even cute.

Early on, when the jurors began to pursue their moment of fame and glory, I thought that the holdout juror should get at least that much money from a GoFundMe drive.  He didn’t ask to be involved, he didn’t do anything wrong and his life would be in actual jeopardy.

I am a skeptic, so looked into this.
