This is my friend Luiz at the Vetrotex plant in Alcala de Henares, Spain. He worked security. Luiz admired the cowboy version of America. He was proud of his rifle, and brought it to work to show me.
It’s a BB gun.
Spaniards were a naive, carefree people. “What could happen?” was the typical response when I asked about some common activity like running the bulls or letting a toddler try descending ceramic tile stairs.
They better dummy up in a hurry.
Here is some trivia I picked up when I was stationed in Spain.
In 1492, Muslim rule ended in Spain when the Moors surrendered in Granada.
Spain has a city in North Africa called Ceuta. It’s a special territory, kind of like the Brits have Gibraltar.

The red marker is the Spanish city of Ceuta, just North of Tetouan. It was several decade ago when I was in Spain, so we didn’t have the internet to research whether Tetouan had anything to do with Star Wars. It apparently has no connection, but seems like a nice place.
Ceuta has always been a problem for Spain because it was so easy for North Africans to clamor over the fence to be in Spanish territory to claim refugee status.
A few things I’ve just learned.
Spain is currently being invaded as North Africans storm the gates to stream into Ceuta. The socialist Prime Minister of Spain, Padro Sanchez, was slow to authorize the Spanish military to defend Ceuta.
It’s thought that the invasion was prompted by socialist Prime Minister, Padro Sanchez, offering work permits to half a million illegal immigrants in Spain. After the announcement, a million people applied.
Sánchez said migrants helped “build the rich, open and diverse Spain that we are and to which we aspire”.
Socialists always say shit like that as they hollow out a country. The naive and carefree people of Spain fell for it, and now they are stuck with inept leadership during a time of crisis.
Why even have a king if he isn’t going to step in when shit starts going off the rails?
