Britain braces for hottest June day on record
She seems nice. Probably a druid or some other kind of pagan.
The article says that it may hit 38o C in England this week. For countries that landed a man on the moon, that’s about 100o F.
The weather here has been very pleasant. I don’t think it has hit 90o F yet, and only a half-dozen days were in the in the upper 80’s.
In the US, 85% of homes have some form of air conditioning. In Europe, there is a prideful aversion to air conditioning. Only about 20% of homes have air conditioning. That’s incredible considering 175,000 people in Europe die each year due to hot weather.
That number of deaths in Europe comes from the UN, but it sounds ludicrous. Even if that number is an exaggeration, it’s a 100 times higher than the number of heat deaths in the US.
Perhaps these World Cup tourists who have been so impressed with Buc-ees gas stations, ranch dressing and American barbeque, will talk up the benefits of air conditioning and ice in soft drinks when they get home.
