Wild Thing is like the It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World of music videos.  You have to be of the era to understand just how amazing it is.  It can’t be explained to anyone younger.  I don’t know what would be comparable today.

The video starts with Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinison and and Jon Bon Jovi.  That’s a popular veteran comedian, a young and crazy comedian and a rock superstar.

The song combines elements of Sam Kinison’s stand-up routine with a classic rock song from The Troggs.  Everyone in the video is a superstar.  Joe Perry and Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Steve Adler and Slah (Guns ‘n Roses), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Jon Bon Jovi, Alec John Such, and Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi), Jonathan Cain and Deen Castronovo (Journey), Robbin Crossby and Warren DeMartini (Ratt), C.C. Deville (Poison), Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot) and Billy Idol.

The woman in the video is Jessica Hahn.  Everyone knew her as the harlot that brought down a celebrity preacher.  It was a huge scandal at the time.

Art like this doesn’t come along very often, and it can’t be imagined until it happens.  When it does happen, it’s a gift.
