Disney has to be intentionally trying to lose money on their movies. In 1989, The War of the Roses, starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, was released. In August, remake will be released. The Roses will star Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch.
They can’t be serious . Colman and Cumberbatch have no humor, charisma or sex appeal.
I was reading an article about upcoming movies bound for theaters this year. The Roses caught my eye because the casting seems so unlikely.
Benedict Cumberbatch is a talented actor who does very well with cerebral and enigmatic characters like Alan Turing, Sherlock Holmes or Doctor Strange.
Olivia Colman’s characters tend to be reliable matrons like Queen Elizabeth II or the Reverend Mother.
Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas both have a wide range and tons of charisma. Both can handle comedy, action or drama.
The War of the Roses cost $26 million to produce, and made $160 million at the box office.
No info is available for The Roses, but it’s going to lose money.
