James Comey Deletes Post Depicting ‘8647’ After Backlash Online
This is so dumb, Meghan McCain may be right when she asks if everyone is mentally ill.
Former FBI Director James Comey apparently posted a photo of shells on a beach that were aligned to read “8647” and has since sparked backlash online by those saying it is a “threat” aimed at President Donald Trump.
This is the same James Comey who was investigating Trump under false pretenses during his first run for president.
Since I stopped going to Reddit, I’m out of the wacko loop, so am unfamiliar with the “8647” code. It’s pretty easy to figure out. To “86 a guy” is to kill or eliminate him. I probably learned that from Bugs Bunny cartoons or private eye movies from the 1950’s.
The “47” refers to Trump as our 47th president.
Comey got a lot of shit online after posting that, so responded with:
“I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down,” Comey said.
James Comey was probably smirking his ass off when he came up with that response.
That just isn’t credible coming from a former director of the FBI. He expects us to believe that:
- He came across a cryptic seashell number on the beach, and posted a photo without googling the significance of “8647” using the phone he took the photo with.
- He is unfamiliar with the slang use of “86”. He is my age, and ran a big investigation bureau, but never heard that in a movie?
- A former director of the FBI opposes violence of any kind?
It’s plausible that Pope Leo opposes violence of any kind, but not someone who used or authorized the use of violence against dangerous people.
You think Tom Homan at ICE would say something that dumb? Would Pete Hegseth, the SecDef, would? No, both of those guys would say that in some cases, the application of force, in a violent manner, is reluctantly necessary.
President Trump was shot in an assassination attempt. For any former high-level official to post something like this is very reckless.
If Tom Clancy novels are to be believed, an FBI director would know people who could get that job done.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also reacted to the post on X, calling out Comey: “Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for the assassination of @POTUS Trump. DHS and Secret Service is investigating this threat and will respond appropriately.”
That sounds appropriate. Comey could be mentally unstable. Even if there was nothing serious about the post, Comey’s abnormal behavior warrants attention.
A friend of mine owns a Tesla. If I were to make joke, “With Musk being a Nazi, it would be a shame if someone keyed your car”, I would be taking a risk. If someone did key her Tesla, I have made myself a suspect.
Full Disclosure:
- Musk is not a Nazi.
- Even if he was, my friend is not.
- Even if she was, I wouldn’t key her car.
- If I were going to key someone’s car, I wouldn’t announce it.
- If I were to make a joke, it should be amusing rather than threatening.
Meghan McCain, daughter of late Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona, posted on X, saying, “Don’t know how this can be interpreted as any other way but a threat against President Trump. James Comey should at the very least get a visit from the secret service. Also is everyone mentally ill?”
Meghan McCain has the right of it. Some people sound like they have lost touch with reality.
Comey has a legacy of being a “non-political” hack who both sides hate because he abused our political process using the power of the FBI, to the detriment of both sides; if you believe the progressives on the damage he did to Hillary Clinton.
