NYT:  JPMorgan Admits It Shut Trump’s Accounts

In a response to a lawsuit filed last month by Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization, JPMorgan, the nation’s largest bank, said for the first time late Friday that it cut off more than 50 Trump accounts in February 2021, shortly after Mr. Trump’s first term ended.

Let that sink in.  A month after a president leaves office, The nation’s largest bank attempts to financially cripple him.  JPMorgan provided no explanation, so it’s not known who told them to freeze the accounts.

The accounts included those for Trump hotels, housing developments and retail shops in Illinois, Florida and New York, as well as Mr. Trump’s personal private banking relationship that handled his inheritance from his father, according to letters filed to the court.

Having accounts frozen for an individual would be a big pain-in-the-ass.  Doing that to a corporation could screw up payrolls, customer payments and violate contracts.

Remember like ten years ago, that baker who was forced to make a wedding cake for a gay marriage?  He was Christian and didn’t think his bakery would be the best choice.  He was polite and all, it just wasn’t something he wanted to be a part of.

How can JPMorgan just decide they don’t want to do business with a person because of his politics?

I don’t think the baker should have had to go all the way to the US Supreme Court retain his right to serve whoever he wanted.  JPMorgan should not have to do business with Trump if they don’t want, but they should have been  polite about it.  Tell Trump that Democrats were always the party of thugs and bullies, but give him a few months to change accounts.
