A woman died yesterday after interfering with federal ICE officers. I won’t post a link because you have already decided whether or not you are in favor a civil war in America.
That’s where we are right now. The governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, has alerted the Minnesota National Guard to be ready to defend the state. He is preparing to go to war against the American government.
At the start of our first civil war, President Lincoln asked Robert E. Lee to command the Union Army. When Virginia seceded from the Union, Lee resigned from the US Army, and led the Army of Northern Virginia. Robert E. Lee was only ever fighting to protect his state.
Federal law trumps state law. Apprehending illegal immigrants is not a controversial aspect of federal law. All countries manage who gets to come into the country. ICE is getting more aggressive because state and local government officials are irresponsibly opposing federal law enforcement.
Anti-government insurgents have advocated the killing of federal officers, and some have been murdered. Anyone actively interfering with law enforcement is in a position where things can go wrong very quickly.
It’s similar to those adrenaline junkies who walk along the edge of a tall building or hang over a cliff edge. Don’t act too surprised if something goes wrong.
The woman who got shot was playing, “I made you flinch!” with her SUV. The officer flinched, she’s dead and the officer’s life is changed forever. She should be happy with that.
The best result would be for the insurgents to decide they don’t want to die, so maybe back away from the line between life and death. The state and local officials might decide to enforce federal law. The ICE agents might be able to be less aggressive if they weren’t being forced so close to that line.
