Since I’m a little bit sick and drowsy, I’m watching Prehistoric Planet 2.
David Attenborough is narrating as a more earnest version of his brother Richard Attenborough, who played the crazy old dinosaur enthusiast in Jurassic Park.
The production values are very good, and the prehistoric creatures seem lifelike and convincing, but I can’t help thinking that they are making up some shit.
Here’s a clip of a gathering of pterosaurs.
How could they possibly know that there were pterosaurs who would acted like ladyboys in order to improve their odds of mating?
It’s difficult to tell what is known and what is speculation. The dinosaurs are so convincing, the viewer is inclined to think that it’s all true.
It’s a little patronizing that cute dinosaurs that the show follows, don’t get eaten. That’s probably to avoid scaring the children. For instance, this Majungasaurus comes upon a Simosuchus. The little crocodile ancestor does some aggressive tail wagging and butt shaking, and the Majungasaurus is convinced to leave.

I doubt it. I also thought that they might be making up dinosaur names, but they check out.
Prehistoric Planet 2 is showing on Apple TV and Amazon Prime. It’s worth watching, and probably an 8/10.
