Japan suffered deadliest month of bear attacks in history, with 7 deaths and 88 maulings in October

Alaska averages about one death by bear attack per year.

Because it’s Japan, there has to be some odd cultural practice they aren’t telling us.  Like for Halloween, everybody dresses like bears to parade through the woods, or honey-scented backpacks are popular.
