Since we returned from Punderson, Sparky has been trying to tell me something.
This morning, I found Sparky sleeping in the living room. Yesterday morning, he woke up in my closet. The day before, he spent the night by the wood stove.
It’s getting cold enough that I have been burning, so it’s not unusual for him to sleep in front of the wood stove. Sleeping in the closet, on a pile of laundry, has happened, but it’s unusual. It’s been raining a lot, and Sparky doesn’t like that so much. Sleeping in the closet seems like a comfort move.
Yesterday, I stripped his bed and washed everything in case there was something unpleasant in there. Sparky doesn’t do it often, but he has managed to sneak something in from outside, like an apple or chipmunk. There wasn’t anything weird in his bed, but it’s all fresh now.
Something is going on.
Sparky is considerate and vigilant. He would sleep elsewhere to avoid disturbing me. Maybe he thinks he is snoring. Sparky does need a CPAP and his sinuses have been giving him trouble lately.
For now, the vigilant angle seems more likely. Sparky may suspect that we have a mouse. He probably wouldn’t say anything because he hopes to catch the mouse and be a hero, or keep the mouse as a pet, or play with the mouse until he gets the squeaker our of it. I will set some traps.
