RCP:  It’s Feeling Really Like 1988 To Me Right Now, Democrats No Longer In Touch

The DNC is eager to rule over a land nobody wants to live in.

Michael Dukakis started that campaign up by 17 points and ended up getting routed because voters believed that his party was no longer in touch with their everyday concerns. It’s just feeling really, really like 1988 to me right now, Jonathan.

George Bush was a meek presidential candidate, who was VP for a popular and effective President Reagan.  Dukakis was meek and goofy.  It does not feel like 1988 to me.

To me, it feels like 1984.  President Reagan’s policies were improving the economy and bolstering national pride.  In that election, His opponent was Walter Mondale, a bland and unremarkable governor of Minnesota.  Reagan won 49 states.

66% of Americans disapprove of the Democratic Party, including the majority of Democrats …We’re down 10 points on the economy, 7 points on tariffs, …24 points on immigration.

DNC policies are terrible.  They seem to hate America.  Changing the format of the message or delivery style won’t help that.

it’s partially because we continue to talk about social issues…

It’s what Democrats say about social issues.  Boys should be allowed to beat girls in sports, men should be allowed in women’s restrooms, colleges should be free to discriminate against white men and preferential hiring policies should encourage deviants in government.

And that’s what Democrats love to do. They love to retreat into good environmental policy, good policy on women’s issues and cultural issues. We have the right position.

DNC policy is to oppose anything Trump does.  Since Trump has an America First policy, that’s a tough sell.

One party rule is dangerous.  America needs a credible Democratic Party to maintain some balance.  As long as they remain in crazy land, that’s not likely.
