After reading about the US military bombing of the Iranian nuclear facilities, it feels like Trump makes everything seem so easy.  Put America first, and just do it.  I don’t know what’s going to happen, but it seems like the world is better off.

George W. Bush tried the nation-building, “Hearts and Minds” campaign in the Middle East, and that led to decades of war and trillions of dollars spent for no lasting improvement.

Obama gave Iran billions of dollars to get a negotiated agreement.  That didn’t stick.

Trump gave Iran plenty of warnings and opportunities to negotiate, but ended up sending some giant bombs.  That will work for at least a decade.  What’s wrong with that?

Some worry that this will start World War III.  That doesn’t seem likely since nobody is interested in fighting it. 

Putin was asked why he is not assisting Iran. He said, “Israel today is almost a Russian-speaking country, two million people from the Soviet Union and Russia live there. We take that into account.”

Putin is concerned about Russians working in Iran, but Israel has said that they won’t be targeted.  Russia isn’t going to help Iran.

China has an interest in trading with Iran.  Mayhem and funding terrorist organizations doesn’t help China.

Other Arab countries are signing the Abraham Accords and cooperating with Israel.

Israel has been hammering the shit out of Iran’s military assets and upper management.  Iran is in no position to engage in a conventional war.

There is a concern that Iranian-backed groups like Hamas, Houthis and Hezbollah could strike military bases in the Middle East.  If Iran is weak, those groups may be less active.  Or, they can act and be flushed out.

Since President Biden left our borders undefended, there may be Iranian assets in place in the US.  ICE seems competent and is working the problem.  Intelligence agencies will have to remain vigilant.

Many Democratic politicians are opposed to American interests and accuse President Trump of acting without authority.  The War Powers Act and congressional approval don’t matter, every president does it.

Democrats are taking the losing side of another issue, so they are likely to get hammered even harder in the next election.

Russia and China realize that Trump will act and carry through on his warnings.  That may save Taiwan.

That’s just my guess, anything can happen.
