ESPN star unleashes on ‘out of control’ Padilla for crashing Noem press conference
This is too much politics, but Sparky hasn’t done anything funny recently.
Everyone has seen video or commentary about Senator Padilla crashing the press conference by DHS secretary, Kristi Noem.
Abnormal behavior draws the attention of the Secret Service. Interrupting a press conference is abnormal. It does not matter that Padilla is a senator or if he was recognized. Had Kamala Harris or Elon Musk burst in like that, they should also be intercepted by the protection detail. It is not impossible for a prominent person to do something crazy.
Recall that John Wilkes Booth was a celebrated stage actor prior to assassinating President Lincoln.
A protection team is trained to interrupt chaotic action to allow time to sort things out. That’s what happened to Senator Padilla.
When the erratic person struggles, tries to evade or push through security, bad intentions are assumed, and the person is removed the hard way. That’s what Senator Padilla did, and again, it doesn’t matter that he is a senator.
After the threat was immobilized, there was time to sort out the details. When Senator Padilla was on the ground and cuffed, he could explain himself. Being a senator was sufficient to get him released. A person lacking that prominence, would have been detained while information is gathered, and probably charged.
Senator Padilla continues to lie about the circumstances of the disruption. Like Representative Al Green who was removed from the last presidential address to Congress for being disruptive, it’s likely that being an agent of chaos is how one gains esteem in the current Democratic Party.
