Episcopal Church refuses to resettle White South African refugees

It’s rare for a large organization to take a principled stand in support of racism.

Well, except for affirmative action, social justice and DEI. Even in those programs, they discriminate to favor a privileged group, rather than against another group. They aren’t so explicit.

Now that South African refugees are on the table, it won’t be so easy to find accurate information.

White South Africans are of Dutch heritage, and settled in the 1600’s.  Their families have been farming for centuries.  Black South Africans have a tribal heritage, and migrated to that region after the Dutch were established.  There are no indigenous people. 

Last year, South Africa passed a land appropriation law saying they can take land.  They may or may not pay for it.  In Zimbabwe, right next to South Africa, a land appropriation law was passed in 2018.  White farmers were forced out, and the land given to friends and family.  People who received the free farm land, were not farmers.  Agriculture collapsed.

White South Africans are about as connected to the Netherlands, as Black Americans are to their ethnic tribe in West Central Africa.  There is no “Go back where you came from” when the family has owned that land for a couple of hundred years.

The White South Africans refugees are not high-level governmental officials who enforced Apartheid up until about thirty years ago.   The refugees have done nothing wrong. There is no doubt that the refugees face losing everything they own or dying in defense of their property.

The Episcopal Church is will not help White South Africans because Apartheid was instituted by White people.  No connection, other than their race.  It’s shameful. 

In matters of race, there is one simple trick.  Imagine if the race was switched.  If the Episcopal Church announced that they would not settle Black Somali refugees because Black Somalis were warlords, the church would be a pariah.

Unless there is evidence to the contrary, assume that the Episcopal Church hates White people and hates America.
