Eagles’ Saquon Barkley hangs out with Trump after teammate dodges question on White House visit

This is an interesting article, but no reports give the whole story.  They all say the same thing.  The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl, Barkley is the star running back, he spent time with Trump and his teammate is reluctant to accept an invitation to visit the White House.

I don’t give a shit about football, and wasn’t aware that the Eagles won the Super Bowl.  How did a 28 year-old football player land a seat on Marine One with the president?

Saquon Barkley is a great football player and is financially savvy.  He is the first running back to average $20 million per year.  Being savvy, he invested some of his money in a financial technology startup called Ramp and leveraged his notoriety to make a Super Bowl commercial for the company.

Perhaps because of his affiliation with Ramp, Barkley attended the J.P. Morgan Tech 100 Summit.  That is an event for leading entrepreneurs, tech founders, CEOs and venture capitalists held at Menlo Park in the heart of Silicon Valley.  Not a place where NFL players are usually found.

At the Tech 100 Summit, Barkley met some of Trump’s family, and gave an autographed football to President Trump’s grandson, Theodore.

That explains the whole thing.  Barkley is leveraging his current status to build his profile.  By giving Trump’s grandson a memorable gift that only he could give, Trump reciprocates by giving Barkley a memorable gift that only Trump could give.

Saquon Barkley plays golf at Mar-a-Lago and rides on Marine One, and has plenty of one-on-one time with POTUS.  If Barkley made a good impression, he is in the network with the richest guy in the world.  No doubt that Ramp will benefit from the proximity to Elon Musk.

Well played Barkley.
