Progressives are cool with censorship.

CBS host blasted for ‘bonkers’ claim that Nazi Germany ‘weaponized’ free speech

This is a minor incident that will circulate on social media as a meme.  A CBS journalist was talking to Marco Rubio about a speech JD Vance made at the Munich Security Council.

Well, he was standing in a country where free speech was weaponized to conduct a genocide,

The CBS journalist was making the case that freedom and civil liberties were a tool of the Nazi Party.

Liberals never liked the 2nd Amendment, Progressives don’t like the 1st Amendment either.  The Democratic Party endorses censorship as long as they are the authoritarians.

And that’s how I got banned from the Teacher forum on Reddit.  My comments have the user name masked with a grey rectangle.

The green banner indicates that person is a forum moderator.  The notification was sent to my account.

If you are not familiar with Reddit, it is an antiquated form of social media.  There are forums on tens of thousands of topics.  This Teachers forum has a million members, with hundreds of people reading it at any particular time.  Most users remain anonymous.

Stevejuliet, the user I am conversing with, has a different opinion, but is reasonable.  Neither of us insults the other.

The comment for which I was banned, has zero points.  Of all the people who read my comment, the “likes” and “dislikes” balanced out.

The moderator, who is supposed to be the adult in the room, called me a Nazi apologist.  I could fairly be called a Musk apologist, but the moderator is virtue signalling.  You can tell by the boastful comments about banning me.

Had I not been banned, there could have been an illuminating discussion.  I might have commented that the Anti Defamation League, the Jewish group most famous for fighting antisemitism, didn’t think Musk made a Nazi salute.

It seems that Elon Musk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute,” the Anti-Defamation League wrote Monday…

In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath. This is a new beginning.

Going in a different direction, I may have posted something like this.

User Stevejuliet had been reasonable through out the discussion, so may have left with the opinion that Musk likes to stir the pot, but in this situation, it was just an awkward gesture.  Like most social media, it’s not about the people having the discussion, but the people reading the exchange.

We won’t know what would have happened because the Progressive moderator couldn’t take the chance.

Excellent example of overreaction and demonization. I approve of your collection of other examples. Nothing says “duh” like photographic proof.
