It’s Christmas Eve, and if I’m honest, Christmas music generally isn’t great. My condolences to anyone who ever worked retail during Christmas.
The Little Drummer Boy is garbage music and The Twelve Days of Christmas is a holiday version of 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall. Don’t get me started on contemporary holiday music. Michael BublĂ© is the one bright spot.
I could listen to Duke Ellington’s version of The Nutcracker all day. Here is one selection.
Listen to Eartha Kitt’s version of Santa Baby . You know she’s a dirty bird. I want to have her baby.
For some reason, it’s poignant to hear Eric Cartman singing O Holy Night. Much better than Mariah Carey.
To pick one style of Christmas music, I would go with Rasta Christmas. Maybe there is a lot of that on the radio today since Ohio legalized recreational marijuana this year. The good thing about Rasta Christmas is because they are all baked, the artists make up words as they go along.
Eek A Mouse is a favorite from back in the day.
I’m sure there is other good Christmas music, but I’m in the middle of a project for Sparky, so can’t be bothered to look.
