At the start of this year, US operations were spun off to Tiktok USDS owned by ByteDance (China), Oracle, MGX Fund Management, Silver Lake, Vastmere Strategic Investments and Michael Dell. 

It’s not clear why a bunch of private equity firms and Michael Dell are running a company that has a major influence on American culture, but ByteDance, the Chinese company that founded Tiktok, is the largest shareholder.

Anyone can generate Tiktok videos, but the Tiktok algorithm decides which videos go viral and are the most influential.  If you think the algorithm only tries to maximize engagement and doesn’t give priority to specific viewpoints, then you are a retard who has slept through the last decade.
