WSJ: Campus Protestors Unmasked

In a letter to university presidents last week, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost reminded them that the state has a law against those who use masks to disguise their identity.

Apparently this law was passed a long time ago to go after the KKK.  A state college campus, just like a public school district, isn’t sovereign territory.  Students who think that on-campus shenanigans are just fun and games, may be surprised.

Under the 1953 state law, “no person shall unite with two or more others to commit a misdemeanor while wearing white caps, masks, or other disguise.” Doing so can result in felony charges and six to 18 months in prison.

That seems pretty harsh, but rioters are damaging property and disrupting the lives are a lot of people.  Good for Yost for getting the word out.  Charge a few of these subversives with a felony would take a lot of the fun out of it.
