I appreciate a person who acts deliberately, and isn’t just acting because that’s how it’s always been done. Trump’s decision to sign the first set of Executive Actions in a public forum, is very well done. Since the Biden/Trump debate, it’s been generally recognized that President Biden is cognitively impaired.
Starting with an extensive report in the Wall Street Journal, corporate media has turned their attention to Biden’s decline, and the people who have concealed his condition. Biden was making critical decisions with incomplete information and questionable mental ability. Nobody knows how the US government was being run and for how long this situation existed.
Trump is intentionally acting transparently as a contrast to the unavailable and guarded Biden. Each action in the signing rally is intentional.
The guy out of frame on the left, publicly reads a summary of the order as Trump is attentive.
After signing, Trump shows the signed form to the public. This step is just for show, but it’s a nice gesture.
As the event ends, Trump tosses signature pens to the audience. Pens used to sign legislation are a cherished memento. In the past, presidents have used several pens for one signature to generate more mementos as gifts for VIPs. Tossing pens to the audience is done to demonstrate that the American people are the Very Important People. Trump has an astounding instinct for showmanship.
Afterward, Trump travels to the Oval Office to sign a bunch more orders. While doing so, Trump answers questions from the press about each directive. This demonstrates his mental acuity compared to the president we’ve had for the last term.
The entire production is a powerful contrast. You don’t have to like him, but you have to admit that Trump is a boss.
I understand that some people don’t like that so much.
In 2008, when Obama was running for his first term against John McCain, NoRo had a Social Studies teacher who was a gifted Progressive. She was a nice person, effective teacher and quite persuasive.
She suggested that I might be impressed by Obama’s intellect. Rhetorically, she asked if I would prefer a president who was smart, organized and effective. Well, no. If a president is effective at implementing policies that I find appalling, that isn’t good at all.
That turned out to be a moot point. Obama was elected, and found to be lazy and uninterested in doing much as president. Obama-care is about all that came out of those 8 years.
