This impressive sign is the best thing about the Salt Fork State Park Dog Park. The contrast between the sigh and the dog park is so stark, it’s almost like they are trolling us.
Here are the two picnic tables and the entrance gate that a clever dog could probably wiggle through.
Here is Sparky trying to find something worth pissing on.
A little farther to the left, is that half of the dog park. The beach is fine for water dogs, I guess, but the water dogs I know don’t really go in the water.
Notice that if the fence were 20 feet farther away, there would be a dozen trees inside the dog park.
This is the other side of the dog park. That mangy stick is the only tree. I have some forest on my patch of land, and consider trees to be free. Little saplings spring up all over the place. Transplant a few of those, and in a couple of years, the dogs would be much happier.
The water was pretty clean and clear of vegetation. Pete and I put our RC boats in the water to play a while as Sparky tried to have fun.
Just like the camper loop, this park seems to have been designed by the guys who cut the grass. It’s frustrating that with a tiny bit of effort, this dog park could be much nicer.
