NYT Cost of Immigration

NYT: Cost of Immigration

The New York Times should rescind their endorsement of Biden in 2020.

It is difficult to find an issue that more exemplifies the dysfunction of American government today than immigration.

That assertion is arguable, but we will stick with immigration for now.

In the past year, more than a million people have entered the United States through the southern border, overflowing shelters and straining public services. Most of the newcomers claim asylum, a status that allows them to be in the country legally but leaves them in limbo. They often must wait years for their cases to be heard, and it can be a lengthy process to obtain legal permission to work.

President Trump solved this problem by negotiating with Mexico to keep asylum seekers in Mexico.  The border wall was part of the solution.  All the Democrats, including corporate media and social media, fought him every second of his term.

This nation has long drawn strength from immigration, and providing asylum is an important expression of America’s national values.

Where is the evidence for this?  Immigration comes with enormous costs in assistance programs, education, social cohesion and crime.  Providing asylum is not included in our founding documents, so it’s not an American national value.

Vice President Kamala Harris and others have correctly identified corruption and instability in Central and South America as reasons many people continue to flee their homes, and the United States should do what it can to help countries with these challenges.

America has a sufficient supply of corruption and instability, we don’t need to meddle in the internal affairs of other countries.

The federal government’s negligence is fueling anger against immigrants and stoking divisions.

The NYT editors are doing their best to twist the narrative.  The anger is against feeble Joe Biden and the Democrat Party who encouraged this invasion of America.  Biden’s ineptitude is reducing divisions.  Many Biden voters regret their support of Biden.

Neither party has come up with a solution that is both practical and compassionate. Many in the Republican Party want to return to the Trump-era policies of strictly curtailing refugee and asylum admissions and requiring many people to stay in Mexico while their asylum cases are heard.

Neither party has a solution?  Trump did, but since establishment Republicans, like dick-head Romney, opposed him, I guess the statement may be true.  The government’s duty is to it’s citizens.   That’s it.  I don’t give two shits about compassion toward our invaders.

Congress can raise the level of legal immigration — by increasing the quotas for employment visas and other categories that allow people to come to the United States legally and have the chance to become permanent residents and then citizens.

In July there were more than two million open positions, for example, in construction, hospitality and retail, and the current system keeps out many engineers, computer programmers and scientists.

By flooding the market with cheap labor from impoverished countries, the hourly pay remains below a living wage.  America has plenty of unskilled people who don’t even consider entering the labor market because the pay and working conditions are unappealing.  If companies had to compete for unskilled workers, those jobs would be improved.

Engineers, computer programmers and scientists were in greater demand, high school students with aptitude and interest in those fields.  Companies might try supporting programs to encourage students to major in those fields.

There were the cynical tactics deployed by Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas and others who decided to transport thousands of immigrants to Democratic-led cities and states to see if they would maintain their longstanding posture of openness in the face of a sudden surge of newcomers. As despicable as this ploy was, it worked

Those cynical tactics should have been deployed a few decades ago.  Rule #4 of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals:   Make the enemy live up to it’s own rule book.   Sanctuary cities say that an unlimited flow of unskilled, ignorant and culturally incompatible people is a good idea, then fine, here they are.  Knock yourself out.

I’m done.  The New York Times finally realized that illegal immigrants are a problem, so, take the win.  They hate Americans, so will never believe that the government exists to serve the American people.
