We spent four days RV camping at Mount Gilead State Park.  Park management seems like they made logical decisions without having ever met a human.  The weather was great and we had a big group, so it was a good trip.  It’s just not designed for people.

That isn’t my picture of the sign.  The sign doesn’t look like that now.  The area around the sign is designated as a native biodiversity region, possibly for pollinators .  The park sits amongst forest, farm land and wild fields.  The sign sits up on a mound, amongst high weeds.  It is barely visible.  Move the sign or mow the lawn around the sign.

Mount Gilead has 59 RV camping sites, which is small for an Ohio state park.  Here’s a photo of a member of our group walking Sparky.

The AI jammed in as many sites as was physically possible.  Sites are tight and short.  This is the only way to park a trailer and a truck.  On one walk, Sparky took a shit in the street because he didn’t have sufficient no access to grass.

This photo was taken as I was taking a shit.

Fortunately, it was during the day, so I wasn’t left in complete darkness when the sensor didn’t detect motion for a minute.

Here is a photo of the shower and sink.

The sensor turns on the water when a person is under the nozzle.  It turns off the water when the person bends over to wash his legs.  It had good water pressure, and was warm if the person could stand in cold water long enough for it to warm up.

There was a men’s full bathroom and a women’s full bathroom, and four individual shower rooms.

That means that if a person wanted to shave, comb hair and brush teeth, then nobody else can poop.  The shower rooms just had a shower.  Personal grooming can be done in the RV, but it’s an odd choice to have a shower with no sink.

There was no dog park, archery or bike trails.  There were hiking trails, kayaking and disk golf.

We did a few hikes.

Sparky tried to lure the kid into falling into the creek.

The kid isn’t with me, he was in our party, and going stir crazy because he was the only child amongst geezers.  To help him out, I took him on a couple of hikes and let him flop on my couch and watch Dexter’s Laboratory.

Sparky did his share of flopping.

It was a good trip, but Mount Gilead isn’t my favorite.  Sparky had a good time, but was happy to get home.
