NPR: Miss Netherlands Crowns Trans Woman

Do women grow tired of a man stepping in to show them how it’s done?  Should they change the title to Mx Netherlands?

Rikkie Valerie Kollé has been named Miss Netherlands 2023, becoming the first transgender woman to take the title, according to multiple outlets.

Absent any clarification, a transgender woman is just a man who wants to beat girls at their own game.  It is probably forbidden, but a news article should provide some context so we can ascertain the man’s commitment to this charade.  It could be like vegetarians have different degrees such as vegan or pescatarian.

Always trying to be helpful, I propose:   Con-woman would be a man who is conceptually a woman.  He declared himself to be a woman, so we accept it as true.   Chem-Fem would be a man who underwent chemical castration or is taking hormone treatments to lower testosterone and initiate some changes to body and mind.   Castrati refers to a boy who had his nuts removed prior to puberty.  That shouldn’t happen, but we could repurpose the word to mean a man who had his dick and balls cut off.

“I DID IT !!!!!” the model said in a post on Instagram. “Yes I’m trans and I want to share my story but I’m also Rikkie and that’s what matters to me,” KollĂ© wrote. “And wherever you are in the world, I want to be there for you and be the example that I missed as a little me.”

Yes Rikkie, by all means, tell your story.  Little girls should grow up knowing that a man can beat them at anything, even at being a woman.

For people who missed the sarcasm, Rikkie only cares about himself.  He says it, “that’s what matters to me”.  He does not care about what happens to the other women in the competition or what it means to girls growing up.

She said she wants to be a voice and role model for young women and queer people, according to her finalist page.

That’s like Pinocchio being a voice for young men.  Rikkie, you were never a girl and you aren’t a young woman.  He seems to be saying that strong women do not have their own voice and couldn’t be role models, so a man has to do it.

I imagine Rikkie could be a competent voice and role model for queer folks, but there are a lot of different kinds of queer, so he should probably be more specific.

In the eighth paragraph, we learn a crucial fact.

Thai business mogul Anne Jakrajutatip, a trans activist who is also transgender, bought the Miss Universe Organization last year. She has said she’s committed to advancing the organization as an inclusive platform and wants to transform the brand for the next generation.

Kudos to NPR for including this in the article.  Nobody cares about the Miss Universe competition, but this is not mentioned very often.

The ladyboys of Thailand have a long history.  They are called “kathoey”, which translates to “third sex”, and apparently they do have distinctions between the different gender identities and presentations.

“I don’t call Miss Universe a beauty pageant anymore,” the JKN Global CEO told Metro Weekly in January. “I call it a women’s empowerment competition.”

The ladyboy boss and I agree.  Don’t call it “Miss Universe” anymore, because that’s not what it is.  “Mx Universe” would be more appropriate.  If men can play and win, I don’t see how it has anything to do with women’s empowerment, but I suspect that is a fiction that makes the ladyboy boss feel virtuous.
