While Sparky and I were goofing around under the dining room table, I noticed that the rug needed to be vacuumed.  That didn’t sound fun, so I figured out how to mount a camera on Sparky’s back.

You can see that Sparky doesn’t want to screw this up.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look more earnest and competent.  If he ever wants a LinkedIn account, we will use this photo for his profile pic.

This was a proof-of-concept project, and it went about as well as it could.  When Sparky is looking up, his head blocks the shot.  Sparky would let me glue a camera mount to his head, but that would introduce other problems.  Dogs, like babies, get the idea of cameras and being photographed, but they can’t competently use a camera.

The Sparky-cam may work best outside since Sparky spends most of his time sniffing around with his head down.

This won’t be a normal practice, but I edited the video as a split screen with my view and Sparky’s view.
