There is something wrong with Disney that will be difficult to fix.  The Acolyte was in trouble before it even aired.  Snow White opens next year, and will fail.

It usually isn’t reasonable to blame the actors.  The dialogue is written for them and they perform as directed.  Some actors have the fame and fortune to turn down roles, but most are going to take the job if the money is good.

Actors are responsible for what they say in interviews.  The person conducting the interview encourages them to relax and make outrageous or unguarded statements.  Disney management should be minding their actors to avoid statements that will offend fans or make them unlikable.  That this isn’t being done, shows that management is inept.  That’s not an easy problem to address.

In interviews, people affiliated with The Acolyte made it clear that this TV show was not made for committed fans of Star Wars, men, white folks and people with conventional sexual preferences.  On social media, those groups were denigrated and insulted.  Disney spent $180 million to generate a TV show that appeals to lesbian activists who enjoy science fiction.  There aren’t many.

Star Wars, the MCU and Disney live-action classics are expensive and targeted toward a niche audience who are assumed to be so pleased with the attention, that quality plot and dialogue aren’t necessary.

Youtube media critics, some of whom are gay, women or Black, profit more from Disney’s creative output, than Disney does.
