NYT: Trump’s New Deputy F.B.I. Director Has It Out for the ‘Commie Libs’

Michelle Goldberg, the author of this opinion piece, doesn’t understand how much we enjoy this article.  It reminds me of that famous dialogue from the movie, Conan the Barbarian.

Mongol General: Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.
Mongol General: That is good! That is good.

Michelle’s column is all lamentations, and it is good.

When a New York jury found Donald Trump guilty on 34 felony counts last year, the conservative podcaster Dan Bongino made a veiled threat on social media.

This was one of the events that proved that Progressives weren’t opponents, but enemies that would stop at nothing to seize power.  Nobody gets convicted of 34 felonies for a single incident.  Maybe if a person committed an extraordinary crime spree and it was all caught on camera, but not a former president for a victimless transaction.

In case you never understood what happened, Trump allegedly paid a whore, $420,000 in hush money to go away.  That’s what hush money is for.  The felonies were bookkeeping errors.  Here’s how NPR explains it.

It was prosecutorial overreach.  Politicians are always getting away with security violations, misappropriations of funds and perjury.  Trump getting 34 felonies is outrageous.

Dan Bongino was outraged.

“The irony about this for the scumbag commie libs, is that the cold civil war they’re pushing for will end really badly for them,” he wrote. Liberals, said Bongino, had been playing at revolution, and would now get a taste of the real thing. “They’re not ready for what comes next.”

Bongino is saying that anything that can be legally pursued, will be.  That is more restrained than the Progressives were.

I suppose he [Bongino] was right about one thing: We’re not ready.

Neither were the Japanese when they planned their sneak attack at Pearl Harbor.

FAFO was invented for circumstances like this.  Fool Around and Find Out.

During his confirmation hearings, Patel insisted that, despite publishing an actual enemies list of people he considered deep state villains, he had no intention of turning the F.B.I. into an instrument of retribution. It seemed obvious at the time that he was lying;

In Kash Patel’s confirmation hearing, Democrats were trying to get Patel to commit to not pursuing anyone who had pursued Trump or January 6th protestors.  Patel would not make that commitment, but stated that he would only pursue people who have broken the law.  Deep state villains would not get a “Get Out of Jail Free” card.

But contemplating Bongino’s ascension, it’s hard to avoid the famous Arendt quote, “Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty.”

When thinking of crackpots and fools, it’s difficult not to think of the people that President Biden appointed.  In particular, Sam Brinton.

This degenerate was in charge of nuclear material for the Department of Energy until he was fired for stealing luggage from the airport, twice.

The liberal democracy most of us grew up taking for granted is brittle and teetering, but its fall still feels unthinkable, even if it also seems increasingly inevitable.

The assumption of good-faith opposition is gone.  The common understanding of our liberal democracy is shattered, and Progressives are responsible.

Perhaps this is one reason Democrats, with a few admirable exceptions, seem so frozen.

Most children will freeze when they are caught with their hand in the cookie jar.  Democrats required America to believe that free speech is a threat to democracy, that a boy can be a girl just by wishing it were so, a girl or woman is a bigot for not disrobing in front of men, that Martin Luther King’s wish for a color-blind society is a racist dog whistle and that DEI is compatible with merit.  On election day, America called bullshit.

President Trump and his enthusiastic staff intend to reveal the corruption, cut off the stream of taxpayer money fueling the Democrats criminal enterprise and rollback repressive rules and regulations.  Yeah, Michelle, you may not be ready, but justice is coming anyway.
