Today’s rainstorm, along with all the recent rain, was enough to overflow the bridge. I’ve been waiting for this to see how the headwall project handled it.
All the rocks held up, and broke up the flow enough to keep the river bed from deteriorating.
There was not enough water to flow through the spillways. The overflow water drained down the gravel, and out through the gaps between bags of cement. The white drain ports seem pretty useless.
Water flowing around the headwall, would erode the creek bank. Spillways would have to fill before that happened. With this heavy rain, water didn’t even reach the spillways. The spillways can handle something like 25% more water.
My project handled the rain better than the city’s ongoing storm drainage project in front of my house.
