The cat fight between the most powerful person in the world and the richest person in the world, is old news, and I missed it.
Some friends and I have been RV camping at Salt Fork State Park, from Wednesday through Sunday. We were more interested in the weather, than the news. I didn’t hear about the Trump/Musk clash until Sunday evening, and by then, the LA riots were underway. When Trump sent in the National Guard, that story eclipsed the Trump/Musk disagreement. I missed the entire story, and won’t ever catch up.
When I was to start a foreign service assignment with Caterpillar, my flight to Spain was on January 12, 1991. The kinetic portion of the Gulf War started with Operation Desert Storm on January 17, 1991. At that time, the internet existed, but the World Wide Web, did not. When the weather worked out, I could pickup an NPR broadcast from the Zaragoza military base.
The Gulf War was not a significant event to me or my friends in Spain.
When I came back to the US at Christmas, I was out of step with everyone else. The first Gulf War, Norman Schwarzkopf and desert tank battles, just didn’t mean much to me.
Oddly, karaoke became popular in America that year. It will never make sense to me.
